Linsanity

I don't like doing another blog post on a topic I did last week, but since Jeremy Lin is the biggest story in sports, probably worldwide, I have to cover this again. Lin has been playing like an all-star, and after being named player of the week for leading the New York Knicks to five straight wins and averaging 27.3 points, 8.3 assists, and two steals over that span.
He is the first player in NBA history to have at least 20 points and 7 assists in his first four starts.
His legend continues to grow however, after he helped the Knicks beat the Toronto Raptors 90-87 with a game winning three pint shot with 0.5 seconds left. Lin had 27 points and 11 assists, but what was overlooked were his high number of turnovers. Lin's game winning shot can be seen above. He is a very religious person, and is now being called basketball's Tim Tebow. The comparisons are similar, too. Just like Tim Tebow and his pose called "Tebowing", there is now "Linning." Check it out at http://www.linning.com/ and join the craze. There are numerous nicknames, jokes, and puns coming out. This win occured on February 14th, or VaLINtines day. Tonight, on the 15th, Lin helped the Knicks beat the Kings by posting 10 points and a career high 13 assists. He was given a permanent rest for the entire game at the third quarter. Floyd Mayweather has said that the only reason Lin receives so much hype and coverage is because he is Asian, but Mayweather just sounds like he wants to be in the headlines. Jeremy Lin has become a household name all throughout the basketball world, but it will be interesting to see how the Knicks play when Carmelo Anthony returns from a groin injury. Anthony is arguably the best on the tea, but thrives in an isolation offence, not a pick-and-roll offence the Knicks now run for Lin. It will be interesting to see if the Linsanity continues, and the Knicks keep linning. I mean winning.
