Nick Zoricic

Nick Zoricic, a Canadian ski cross racer, died today as a result of massive head injuries received from a crash in Grindewald, Switzerland. Zoricic, 29, sailed off a jump to the right and landed on some course netting, which jetted him foward. He then was on the ground not moving when people rushed to help. The crash did not look as bad as it happened to be, and there are certainly some scary crashes with less consequences, but obviously he hit his head pretty hard. There is a youtube video, which I prefer not to share on here, but you can look it up. This is another tragedy for skiing worldwide, after Sarah Burke's death in December. There are many risks involved when playing sports, especially ones which you travel at high speeds and launch into the air. I hope the ski world is not hurt by this, and hopefully the helmet technology is better in the coming years. Condolences to his family, friends, and the skiing community.
